There will also be a few more Boogalosers gigs forthcoming with the addition of Mark on drums and digeridoo (Ed: and new natty haircut).
Also of interest which you might not have heard due to Rupert's modest nature, is his appearance on the new Robbie Robertson (The Band as in Dylan's band) along with Tim Gordine and his solo album as Hubble is completed and pressed up on quality vinyl. This features a who's who of Island music, including messrs. Athey, Cuffe, Grimshaw, Barclay MacKay, and myself.
If that wasn't enough J.C.'s album in underway. The Tzigani album is almost cooked and a CD by a chap called Renegade came my way this week which features Rick Stokes, John Mansell, Rick Otley, J.C., myself, Volker Katt and Gila. There's a whiff of cheese there but he's a smashing bloke. You can get the CD from Guy Reed on (01983 564555).
Alas and alak it's way past my bedtime and I didn't even get to visit Momus' web site which was why I logged on. If you get a chance to visit his site it is absolutely exceptional, as is his music. You can find him at http://www.momus.demon.co.uk
It was good to see such a great turnout this evening.
Paul Armfield
Editor's note: Paul Armfield, bass player, songwriter supremo and all round good egg turned up from a Dance Preachers gig at Island Sessions '97 CD launch. Those mighty fine pickers the Dance Preachers (including Armfield, JC and Angelina Grimshaw and one Rupert 'Mr. Modest' Brown) had been gigging at Binstead Community Centre. Nothing ever happens on the Isle of Wight. Indeed.
