Isle of Wight Rock introduced it's new CD player and set the controls for The Pink Floyds Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Sure put a neat slant on the gig. Up first were Abby Moon. Alex Roberts 4 piece are an energetic lot to say the least. Most the songs are pushed a long at breakneck pace. Helena Taylors vocals are similar to that of Saffron from Republica . The drums belong to Andrew Taylor and on bass is the bouncing Matt Windsor. Alex can play a mean Hendrix style guitar. The band brought a following.
Shrinkwrap did a set of consisting entirely of their own stuff. They impressed the hell out of us especially when John Norledge the lead guitarist produced a 6 string Rickenbecker . Tiz on drums provides a perfect rhythm for Tom Vicery on bass and apparently Set Gingerbread is on vocals plus Scott Henderson on guitar. There set was Blister, Shrinkwrap, Love Addict, Alone, Every Time, Summers Coming, Operator, First Time, Blood Vein, Muddy Banks, Glow Wild and A Little Louder. They are supporting Gypsy's Edge at Calverts on September 26th.
Void topped the night off with a set of covers and four of their own material. They are getting better with every gig. From school band to regular gigging unit, quite a leap. Bran brought a Liverpool shirt donated by the Hillsborough Family Support Group which was auctioned for £25.
A cracking little gig for a cause close to any football fans heart.
