Who is Cheryl Beer?
Has been a question on our lips ever since we saw the adverts for her gig at Medina Theatre recently. A few people have asked us the same question recently too. This may be a good gig to find out. If she is half as good as the press releases promise it could be quite a show.

Although comparisons to Alanis Morrissette chase Cheryl Beer, this home-grown singer songwriter is distinctly less precious than the long tressed one and her raucous up tempo gigs invariably end up with half the audience on stage, go prepared or stay at the back."
"Songstress Cheryl Beer's amazing voice, wit and charisma has made her a favourite amongst festival goers".- Crewe & Nantwich Festival
"Last year she compered the Main Stage to huge acclaim and attracted the largest crowd ever for her set on the acoustic stage"......Guildford Festival 1999 Programme.

AT LAST - a British songstress who can take on the might of the American domineering record companies who constantly ram the albums of their female artists down our neck - year in year out !!!!!!!!

The strength of Alanis Morrisette, the voice ranges of Mama Cass, the mellow tones of Tracy Chapman and song influences of Joni Mitchell ..... some of the ingredients of CHERYL BEER...... an energetic & dynamic performer who 'oozes' charismatic confidence in an up tempo full-on acoustic set that can blow the cobwebs off most festival sets !

Cheryl is like the Canadian musician ANI Di FRANCO, gigging non-stop, amassing a huge loyal following and ignoring the many offers from mega’ record companies by refusing to sell off her work.

Since appearing on an unsuspecting music scene in June 98 Cheryl has risen through obscurity to being cavorted by the said major record companies and prestigious touring gigs with VAN MORRISON, ROY HARPER, BOB GELDOF and rockers WHITESNAKE, WISHBONE ASH and musical wizard JOSE’ FELICIANO .

Such is her instant appeal in her recent festivals appearances her merchandise outsold Republica, Audioweb, Big Country and the Blues Band put together doing the same with Van Morrison, Roni Size and Space during the eclipse event. A songstress that refuses to hide behind loops and effects, you get what you see and hear, 300 gigs, plus 60 festival Appearances throughout 98- 99.

This year started by hosting and singing at the new year concert at Cardiff Castle in front of 20,000..... Having such a bubbly personality and razor sharp wit has enabled Cheryl to featured as a host / compere’ on many big stage events ! In fact radio shows, and a TV series are already in production, Cheryl has also presented a BBC digital series of music programmes called the festival diva on the road.

Cheryl has chosen to gig as often as physically possible, touring The UK and Ireland and created an ever-growing mailing list that exceeds 7000. In all over one million people have seen Cheryl play live since first stepping out onto the stage in June 1998.

An extensive catalogue of original songs and a few her own versions of favourite covers, she provides a wealth of audiences and venues accessible for her music . Cheryl Beer has chosen to entertain people in her own way, with her own material at her choice of venue, a satisfyingly holistic way of life, that only few of us can achieve. !

A female raconteur ! Witty chat and banter will raise a smile between songs, but never once does the audience forget they’re in the presence of a songstress, with a remarkable voice and strong presence. .....nominee for 'Woman of the year’ Cheryl Beer has her own TV series to be seen in the autumn . Asked to present millennium concert for BBC TV .
