Rick Valvona remembered
'Rik and his brother Loris are probably the best rock bass players on the Island'
- John Newman
Isle of Wight musician Rick Valvona died on February 15th, 2000. The sad news circulated amongst the Island's musicians and was in the County Press. For those who haven't heard and anyone who wants to know a little about Rick here is an extract from Isle of Wight Rock's book which includes some of the bands that Rick was in.
'Though Blind Panic was the same personnel as the Wild Bunch it was slightly different material. It tended to go a bit more r'n'b and heavy rock. The Wild Bunch used to do bits of reggae and C&W, more easier. Blind Panic did a lot of Blues Band stuff, Dr. Feelgood.' Rick Valvona
The Wild Bunch was originally a trio then joined by ex-Snatch Mick Watson back from college. De Courcy leaves to start the Firm. Kellett forms Fallen Angels in London and tours with Johnny Thunders. Wild Bunch split after De Courcy leaves to join a trio.
